Open Settings → Location. Tap "Use my location", or "Choose city" and enter a city or ZIP code. Please also check that the iPhone's date, time and time zone are set automatically.
Allow notifications for Sanctuary in iOS Settings → Notifications, and make sure the 15 / 30 minute switches are on in the app. Reminders are scheduled for upcoming Fridays and refresh whenever you open the app.
Allow location access, move away from metal objects, and calibrate by moving the phone in a figure-eight. The compass shows the direction of Jerusalem from your selected location.
Candles are shown 18 minutes before sunset. Some communities (for example Jerusalem) use a different custom; please follow your rabbi's guidance.
